Driving to Diano Marina

It was still rainy when we woke up in the morning in Cremona. A family of campers were sheltering in the cafe area.

We got packed up and left on our way to the west of Italy near Genoa. It was a dreary drive initially along the freeway. We stopped outside a park at a small town Ovado in the mountains.

Glenn was impressed by the decorative concrete and iron work on the fence.

We then continued coming down the mountains out of the rain. At last we got some nice views of the coast.

We arrived in Diano Marina and squeezed up some narrow roads to find the agricamping site Solo Blue. It’s mostly a farm growing vegetables with a yard for motorhomes with electricity, a few toilets and showers - and a swimming pool - a nice set up!

After getting organised we went for a walk down town to check it out.

After leaving the area of farms we were all of a sudden in a touristy beach area with lots of empty chairs and umbrellas. It’s now very late in the season so there are very few tourists around. The beach was black - probably volcanic. We enjoyed the warmth on the beach.

We then walked around the edge of the marina with the huge rocks and the very blue Mediterranean Sea.

We then went into the main part of town. It was our last night in Italy so we had to find a gelato. After finding many closed gelato shops we eventually found one open - and enjoyed pistachio, coconut, stracciatella and amarello.

After that we checked out the shops that are selling off their summer gear and touristy items. We only bought some freshly ground coffee and had a nice chat with the owner who’s friend was off to Melbourne that week.

It was now getting late so we decided to have our last Italian pizza - very delicious.

We then headed back to Gus for a good sleep.
