We started the day visiting Sligo town which has very picturesque streets - some on the river.
I found more evidence of the Insomnia coffee brand - they have their own coffee shops - and I bought some Insomnia ground coffee for the van! Maybe it will help us get more done in the day.
We visited an amazing megalithic tomb site with 52 tombs , some from 6000 years ago. This is around the time that humans arrived in Ireland. These are connected with many other sites across the middle of Ireland and also are similar to those in Scotland and Scandinavia.
Glenn spotted some good waves on the coast so we went closer to check them out. There were actually a couple of surfers out there! The next town of Enniscrone had a surf school and lots of surf shops. A bit chilly for me - brrrrr! 🥶🥶🥶
We next stopped in Ballina - a bit to see how it compared with its namesake in Australia.
Ballina has a big river going right through it with a weir and a salmon fishing club that has been going since the 1800s.
We also checked out a bit of an alternative modern art exhibition in the local art centre.
There was also a mural about an Irish patriot who had been killed by the British forces with 2 bullets in the back of the head. Ballina must have gone through some bad times in the battle for Irish independence.

The Ballycastle site we had planned for the night wasn't operating so we had to look for somewhere nearby at the last minute. After driving up some very narrow roads we found this great spot with a view.

Such an interesting time you’re having and you both look so well
Laura, you are looking tanned and terrific. The Gypsy life suits you 💕🚙
Next stop, the Irish Byron Bay!!!
