Slieve League are the highest cliffs in Ireland - so we had to do the Pilgrims Walk to the top. The weather was not very helpful as it was rainy with low cloud coming down over the top of the cliffs.
So views were better at the bottom.
And getting mistier as we went higher.
Glenn reestablished his friendship with sheep - a long time after his sheep shearing days. One sheep had its own packed lunch 😉.
Next stop was Donegal town -the name is derived from Dún na nGall, meaning the fort of the foreigners - who were initially the Vikings.
Donegal Abbey from 1474 is now a ruin and looks like half is now buried underground. But the setting was very nice beside the river. We then had a walk around town.
Then we headed for our overnight spot inland a bit as we were fed up of being blasted by winds on the edge of a cliff. We found Glencar lake and waterfall area - very peaceful. Yeats the poet had lived near there and the waterfall inspired him in his poem 'the Stolen Child' - used by the Waterboys in the Fisherman Blues album.
Glenn was able to wear his new favourite jumper from Ireland to visit the waterfall.
Dinner was delicious venison steaks thanks to Jacqui and Colin from Oban - thank you!!!

Atmospheric photos and glad to hear Glenn’s made some new friends even if they are a bit sheepish 🤣
Looks like you have the right gear to wear. Love the jumper Glenn.
Glen does look cold … but looks great in his new jumper.
Oh you were in my home territory my mother’s maiden name was Odonnell from Donegal. Really enjoying your posts xxxxx
