We visited Aileen and Mark in Edinburgh for a couple of nights and had a lovely catch up. Aileen and I met at Edinburgh university in the first year maths class in 1980 - so we go a long way back.

We had a very interesting visit to the Modern Art Gallery - and then to the Georgian House in Charlotte Square - restored to what it had been like in the 1820s when first built as part of the designed New Town. There was a lot of information on what the lives of the occupants were like - and how they used the various parts of the house. The servants all had a hard life and worked ridiculously hard.

The volunteer guides made it very entertaining. Here we are with Aileen checking out the kitchen.

Unfortunately Ruth and Debbie were unwell so we couldn't visit them. Get well soon!!

Aileen has a lovely garden and gave us a couple of freshly picked cucumbers for our lunches.

Here's just before we headed off to our next destination - Forfar for Gus's aircon repair.
