Driving to Carcassone

Coming down the hill from the free spot on the top of the hill we stopped at the village below to pick up some bread from the boulangerie.

It was another ancient town in the river with a Protestant ‘temple’ where there had been a lot of fighting with the Catholics.

We then headed in the direction of a lake with a swimming beach. It was very hot by now but with a very strong wind. We went over deserted small roads through fields.

We couldn’t believe it when we care over the top of a hill to see a turquoise lake with hundreds of windsurfers and wake boarders on there.

There were major waves on the water so it wasn’t any good for swimming.

Lots were struggling and falling in as the conditions were quite tough. We enjoyed the entertainment while having our lunch there.

We then continued to our campsite Camping La Cite in Carcassone - with good views of the old Cite.

It was 36 degrees so the pool was a welcome cool down - even though it was packed.

We made dinner on the new bbq again and it worked well. The sausages were made by a lovely butcher who we enjoyed having a good chat with.

We went to bed once it had cooled down a bit.
