So we didn't have to backtrack and to reduce the driving , we took 2 ferries to get across to near Glasgow. The first was Tarbert to Portavadie - and then we took some very remote roads to the next ferry Dunoon to Gourock.
They are like commuter ferries lasting about 20 minutes each - so it's just a matter of rolling up and waiting for your turn to get on. It wasn't particularly busy so we got on immediately.

Ferry to Gourock

On our drive to Ayr we dropped in for afternoon tea at a hotel I used to go to as a child - 50 years ago. It's a bit changed now but the main building, garden and beach are still the same. Glenn enjoyed another strawberry tart!! A storm was coming so we just about got blown away on the beach!
We then headed to a nice spot on Croy Beach for the night. The weather allowed us to sit outside - the first time since we were on Skye!
Unfortunately our quiet spot was later interrupted by another 2 vans parking next to us and then playing music until 1.30am - our only issue of that so far!
Love public art 💕
Glenn will be a connoisseur of those tarts.
I love going on those type of short ferry rides. Do they cost much?
