Fort George to Plockton

After our first time of emptying the toilet cassette (no smelliness whatsoever!) and refreshing the water and fully charged with electricity we headed off to Fort George near Arderseer.

The fort was started to be built in 1748 after Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites were defeated at Culloden in 1745. In order to keep these wild Scottish people under control they had to build a fort to house the government soldiers. It is quite spectacular on the edge of the Moray Firth where we spotted some dolphins.

After a good walk around and viewing an exhibition on Scottish Rock Art, we headed off to Plockton to catch up with Lorraine and Charlie.

Some parts were a bit hairy - single track roads with passing places - and with a lot of potholes. It was of course very scenic.

Lorraine and Charlie had kept us a spot on the edge of Plockton Airfield - an off grid parking place with great views. After catching up over drinks and dinner we took Patrick their dog down to the beautiful Coral Beach for a walk.

The sunset views of Skye and the Cuillins from our Motorhome parking spot were amazing. It's the night before the longest day so we were able to sit outside until 9.30pm - unheard of in Scotland.
