Going to the Camargue

We got packed up to make sure we left before the 11am deadline.
We first went to the supermarket on the edge of Aix to stock up. All supermarkets close around lunchtime on a Sunday so we had to be quick. But next door to the supermarket was a shoe discount store. I needed a new pair as my sketchers had no grip left after only 6 months. I was very happy to find a new pair of Geox trainers for the low price of 23 euro. Hopefully they will keep me going longer than 6 months.
We did our supermarket shopping and when finished bumped into Janet , an Australian travelling by herself in Europe. We haven’t met many Australians so it was good to have a chat.
We then drove on towards a wildlife reserve on the east side of the Camargue - Marais de Vigueirat. It was a very nice 2.5km circuit around a few lakes seeing many different birds, white horses and lots of coypu - beaver like creatures - who were swimming about and fighting.
After the nature reserve we continued to our campsite La Brise in Saintes Maries del Mer on the west side of the Camargues..
We stopped at Van Gogh’s bridge- a bridge he painted 4 times.

Here’s one of them.

We then continued filling up with LPG gas on the way costing only 8 euro. This is much cheaper than the calor gas from the uk at around 34 pounds for a swapped full bottle.
We arrived at the La Brise campsite and parked up. It’s a huge campsite on the beach right next to the town. It’s mostly empty so it’s a bit like a ghost town. The facilities are good though - apart from the lukewarm showers - as Glenn found out.
There are 2 swimming pools - but it’s too cold to go in. Maybe later!
