After leaving Camping@Golspie we did a quick trip out to Little Ferry to check out future camping spots and also see the old pier. The weather was a bit wild and woolly.
We could see the skiffs had started racing against a big wind.
We then went to Helen and Rabs to get our washing done - much easier at a friends place - thanks Helen!!
We headed out to see the skiffs in their fine racing form- entering many different classes of races from young to old, different genders and mixed.
Angus and Crombie the West Highland Terriers enjoyed the walk too.
It was a tense competition between 8 villages - the furthest being Collieton near Arbroath.
It was a tight battle between landlocked Strathpeffer and home town Golspie - with Strathpeffer conquering in the end.
We then went for a walk down the Big Burn - a classic walk in Golspie that has to be done. There are beautiful views around every corner including the big waterfall and the mossy waterfall glistening in the sunlight.
We headed back to Helen's after Gus was positioned in the Big Burn car park (the ford to the house is under repair). We had restorative drinks in the top lounge with beautiful views of the Dornoch Firth - with oyster catchers and rabbits busy bombing around.
I at last had time to cook my orange cake - apologies to Jane and Brendan as I meant to get it done there.
Meanwhile Rab cooked up the solid venison burgers - thanks to Colin Murray - which tasted like steak - a new experience. Followed by strawberries and local capaldis icecream - perfect. After a couple of drinks we wended our way home to the Big Burn for a very peaceful night lulled by the sound of the waterfall.
