We started at the famous Inverewe Gardens created by a father and daughter in the 1860s.

They collected all sorts of plants that were coming back from overseas and put them in a large garden over 50 acres. There are many eucalypts, a wollemi pine and American trees including sequoias.

There is also a large kitchen garden with vegetables and flowers for cutting.

The house in the grounds where the daughter lived until the 1952 has been restored to look like how it was in the 40s. She was a prodigious cook and hosted many dinner parties so it was quite palatial.

We had lunch a little bit down the road in the van - which is one of the best things about motorhoming - you have everything with you! There was a coffee van nearby where we found some delicious strawberry tarts. Glenn is now a strawberry tart addict!

We then went on to Knockan Crag nature reserve where geological discoveries were made of the oldest rock ending up on top of younger rock. This had been proposed by 2 whippersnapper geologists to the Royal Society at the time - and they were told they were wrong.

Ben Peach and John Horne then went on to prove the age of the rocks show they were actually correct.

There were interesting walks with sculptures related to the geology and great views of the Loch with some brave souls paddle boarding.

We stayed there overnight - and the very bold deer came down to the car park to check us all out.
