A bit of a rainy day - but we checked out quite a few things.
First we started in Arduaine Garden - another huge garden started in 1897 and incorporating many foreign species that don't generally grow in Scotland. It's just the Gulf Stream that makes th weather a bit milder.
There were some Australian species including a wollemi pine.

We then headed off south and came across the ruined Carnasserie Castle - built in 1560.
It had some amazing features - an old kitchen, cellar, and large fireplaces over 5 storeys. It would have been quite luxurious for its time - with lots of servants I'm sure.
Then we headed south again and went back in time to 2,500 and 6,000 years ago.
In one small area we saw standing stones and 3 large temple and burial cairns. Many people would have lived in roundhouses in the area. It's only the sheep who inhabit them now.
Then we saw some interesting Celtic rock art on large rock slabs on the ground -as similarly done by the Australian Aboriginals.
After a big day of sightseeing in the rain we found our overnight spot on the west of Kintyre looking across to the isles of Jura and Isla.
