Old buildings near Forfar

On our way from Edinburgh to Forfar we stopped off at Tealing to check out 2 very old structures.

The first is a dovecot from 1595 that is still in very good condition. All parts including the little inside compartments for the pigeons were made from stone.

As has happened in many other cases, pigeons became too numerous and became a nuisance, so dovecots were closed down.

Then just 100 meters away we checked out an Earth House from 2,500 years ago. It is a stone lined underground structure either for living in or for food storage. You can see carved stones in some places. Roman artifacts were found by archaeologists in the structure so there must have been some trading between the 2 cultures.

Then we took Gus to Motorhome hospital where his aircon was repaired - a leaking hose replaced.

It will be essential in Spain considering the heatwaves they are experiencing at the moment.
