We had a quick coffee in Capbreton town and checked out the church - very old as usual at least 1500s or before.

The paintings directly on the walls were huge and amazing.

The aire de camping cars was still very busy when we got back.

We then headed off South East towards the Pyrenees. We soon started going up many hills and we could see the mountains in the distance - or at least the base - as the top was up in the clouds.

There were grapevines on terraces just as we got into St Jean Pied de Porte .

St Jean Pied de Porte is where pilgrims on the Camino from France start or continue from to get over the Pyrenees to Spain on the way to the final destination of Santiago de Compostella.

It is an old town with defensive walls so lots of history. We first walked along the top of the ramparts and then through one of the old gates onto the Main Street.

There were lots of shops selling hiking shoes, poles, small towels and other things required on the Camino.

We climbed up the steep path to the Citadel, the old fort, at the top of the town. It’s now closed off as it’s a school but the views are great from up there.

We then walked back down to Gus parked very close to the bottom of the hill.

Now we have charcoal so we were able to try out our new smokeless bbq for the first time. It has a fan powered by a usb power pack that gets the charcoal burning quickly and hot.

We had a lot of vegetables to do first - sweet potato, courgettes and eggplant. We then cooked the hamburgers on there. Everything was cooked well and the bbq was still hot enough to cook more if required so I would say it’s a success!

Everything tasted good too!

We watched a bit of Olympics before hitting the deck.
